Jeff and Jason Deaton came down to Kentucky Lake for a little R&F - that would be rest and fishing. I think I saw them about 30 minutes the entire time they were down here. When they come down to fish they leave @ the crack of dawn and come home when it's dark. They seemed to have a good time and here are the pictures they sent me. Gloria - I took care of your boys all of 2 seconds lol.

I will try to post underneath each picture what went on that particular day. Crappie are really on now - they are limiting out. We didn't get any pictures, but Craig placed 3rd in the Focus Open Tournament out of Fenton Ramp. He had 14 lb. 12 oz. It's starting to look like spring and it's good to see Craig on the lake again. We, all friends and family, of Craig and Connie Hipsher, are trying very hard to keep Craig and Connie busy. Every minute they have to themselves they think of their beloved Katie. But life goes on and it seems very hard for them now. The kids @ Katie's school sent this to Craig so I thought I would post it. We have to move forward so get ready for spring and come down and help keep Craig busy - he loves the water (I think he is part fish). Don't forget to call Danna @ Cozy Cove for your room needs.

Katie Leaves Us Far Too Soon

On February 8, 2011 Katie Hipsher, daughter of Craig Hipsher and Granddaughter of Connie Hipsher passed away after a tragic accident in their home. Anyone who knew Craig, knew Katie. She was with her dad whenever she could arrange it. She could outfish most serious fishermen. She loved being on the water with her Dad. Anyone who knew Katie loved to hear her laugh. She was a "dream daughter"; beautiful to look at and a lot of tom boy in her. She talked quiet and always had a grin on her face. She would go night fishing with Dad and Eddie and she would give em heck. Ed loved it. We have talked to Craig and Connie and they are inconsoleable. Craig has said he has lost his best friend. Cozy Cove has made this tragedy alot easier for them by accomodating friends and family. Danna Norman has been a true friend.

Katie's visitations will be 5PM to 7 PM@ Collier Funeral Home in Benton, KY. A memorial service will follow at 7 PM. There is a scholarship fund set up in Katie's name @ CFSB, P.O. Box 467, Benton,KY

I looked through the pictures I had of Katie and her Dad and I found many - but I am only posting these few. All of our prayers go out to the Hipsher family.

We all know that Katie and Papaw will be looking down from above.

Well, I have been in holiday mode and Craig, as always, in still in fishing mode. I checked back and found out I have not posted a picture since December 15. Now anyone who knows Craig knows that he has not stopped fishing. Eddie has done some fishing - but the old ball and chain has kept him off the lake and I apologize. Believe me - it will change in about a week. I have no control when his bones quit creaking! lol. The next few pictures are gonna have info under them cause that's the only way I know to get it sorted out. By the way - Danna @ Cozy Cove is keeping all those cabins ready for you guys - a little Under Armor and some hot coffee and you can have a great winter story. It's warming up here - y'all come down.

I am sitting is my PJ's and I get a pix message from Craig. It is colder than (you fill in that blank) and he has Craig Johnson out and they are catching. He is like the everready bunny. He just keeps going and going - Connie can't you ground him anymore? It is 30 degrees out, water temp is 43.3 and he is still catching. The man was born to fish! This makes me cold just looking @ it!

OK most of us are dodging snowflakes and Craig is on the water, this time with Steve and Earl, fishing for crappie. I think Craig is 1/8 crappie on his Mom's side (just foolin Connie). They had a heck of a trip and caught crappie like most of us would dream about. These pictures just don't do justice - it is 40 degrees out and I'm thinking keep a pot of coffee on and don't open the front door. Craig is a all weather kind of guy. Cozy Cove keeps those guys so happy - and Danna is such a good hostess - they don't even feel the cold. Dave has been coming to Kentucky Lake since he was knee-high to a grasshopper. He is now bigger than a grass hopper. See Dave, when I know you - you gonna get smacked around a little. Craig has been taking Dave out for years and this trip was no different. They caught fish till the water froze (just kidding)! Eddie and I both know Dave too. HOWEVER - he didn't come to see us. OK - I know y'all been wondering where Craig and Eddie has been. They have been fishing of course, and I have been putting the blog off. I'm telling you, I keep hoping Craig fires me. Fat chance. I have several pictures to do and the first group are a mixture of trips Craig has taken with and without Eddie. I am gonna put these out there and try my best to keep them straight. Eddie did help Craig twice this month with companys that needed more than one guide. Craig was on crappie pretty much every day. Eddie got on crappie a couple of days, but what he didn't catch in crappie, he caught in yellers (as Craig calls them). Here is the first group. Remember, fishing never stops @ Kentucky Lake - and Danna over there at Cozy Cove makes sure all of the fishermen have a great place to stay - plus she has some deer stories to tell. Craig was out on the lake today with Chris and Roger from Louisville, KY. They got on the crappie really hard and the cooler has 30 crappie in it along with 7 nice stripes. It would be nice to see Craig again - maybe first snow he will get off the lake. They are still killing the crappie on the lake - you need to call and book with Craig or Eddie - see you on the lake!

Chris Roberts, a frequent flyer from Louisville, was down again this week-end and of course, Eddie and him hooked up for some end of year bass fishing. Although Eddie caught fish - Chris is so photogenic - kinda of a ham you know. Wants to prove to those Louisville Office workers that there are fish @ Kentucky Lake! Ed was out on the lake today with the Player family. Now I am only showing you the men of the family - Lea is supposed to send me pictures when they make it home. Well I have gotten a couple of pix from Craig today to I thought I would go ahead and post them. Also, I was lucky enough to go out with Mama Hipsher. I am telling you, she took me on a fish catching adventure. I bet we caught 50 yellow bass and Connie showed me how to handle the "Connie Hipsher Hair Jig". She pulled on a spot @$%$ and caught 12 of the biggest crappie I have seen. I took a picture - however, I don't know where the heck it went and she would slow down enough for pic #2. Had a real good time Connie! She made it look so easy - I caught one - non keeper but I really had a good time watching her. Nice Lady - hope I get another invite. OK - I admit, I have been uninspired. I have some new equipment and when you get old, ya just don't pick it up so fast. Craig did give me a raise - now he speaks to me (lol). I have got several pictures coming up. Some is of Craig, Chasity and Katie - we even have a picture of the real star of the family Connie. She has been busting their butts on crappie. Eddie has also been out on the lake with family and he has been bustin' the crappie and the yellow bass. We are in the middle of moving - but when we get settled, I will try to keep you updated as it happens. Don't think just because it's fall/winter the fishing goes away. It does not. You just have to dress warmer. The trees are changing and they are beautiful and crappie fishin' is HOT. Enjoy the pictures and see you on the Lake! By the way the Bass fishing is just as good!!!

I will confess. I am so behind on news and pictures I am just hoping Craig fires me. I mean doesn't fire me. Don't think just because it's been 100 + in the shade that these guys haven't been fishing. Craig and Harold Knight have done some serious fishing. Also cousin Ryan was in to see Craig and you will see his picture in here. I have gotten so many pictures from Craig and he usually gives me info - weight of fish mainly - he has also been having great luck at the tournaments he has fished. He won a Tuesday night with daughter Katie and Harold and Craig has placed @ least 5th or better in I think 4 tounaments. Eddie on the other hand has been hosting buckeye fishermen. Ben and Bart were down for a long week-end and then low and behold in came Jeff Lynch, father-in-law Carl and that master fisherman Clint Lovely (that's what ya get Ben - don't mess with Mama!) Keeping up with Craig wears me out! He has won a tournament with his daughter Katie - I think they weighed in 24 + pounds. You know who caught those fish. He also placed 5th in a tournament with Harold Knight of Knight and Hale Game Calls. I was told several times how much they weighed in but I can't remember - I know it was over 23 pounds. I am telling you - if I hear one more fish story I am going back to Ohio - ok maybe not but this night fishing has got me all mixed up - don't know day from night. Oh well here are Craig's pictures. Night Fishing - when temperatures are 100 degrees in the Shade

The month of July has been too hot to handle. Not much fishing in the day - but the night fishing brings up the big girls. The first pictures on here are Craig's guide trip with Greg Smith's Dad. He is pictured with a 6 lb. largemouth; and they caught 40 bass total between 9 PM and 3 AM. Also here is a picture of some major yellows that Craig got into. That was daylight. Eddie had his oldest daughter, Nikki down with her son Chase and daughter Karaline. Nikki makes sure PawPaw gets major boat time. These are random pictures from the last week - they had a ball and I think they are coming back. See you on the Lake!

July 4 - Fishing with the Jet Skis

OK - Eddie left the campground on June 30 - he returned July 5. Now there is a rumor that he did sleep at the Trailer - don't remember seeing him. Danny Beavin was in town for one of the trips - then here comes that Carlisle Fisherman Jeff Bowlin. I don't care if he is relation - he is a bad influence. They caught a bunch of fish - bigger ones @ night and Jeff finally (lol) went home. Watch Out Craig and Harold are at it Again!

On June 26 Craig and Harold (of the famous Knight & Hale Game Calls) won a tournament on Barkley Lake. It was the U S Bass Tournament at Barkley State Park. They weighed in 23.35 pounds and walked away with first. I guess I am gonna have to become a paparazzi too and start following these guys so we can get come pictures. They have been on some really good fish and I have no details on what they were caught on or how deep - but next time, I will pin Craig down a little more. They will see you on the Lake!

Ed took out his buddy Chris Roberts and Pilot Pool's nephew Dillon out for some night fishing. See, Pilot Pool only sees crappie - he is not a bass fan. Obviously, Dillon is the brains - we all know - catch and release. Actually - Eddie has become quite the cleaner of fish - first love though are those big green fish. As you can see - Dillon put it on them. At least he got his picture taken. Another night on the lake!

OK - we all know it has been just a little hot outside. All the fishing that these guys have done has been @ night - which means they are NUTS! I, myself, find night fishing just a little spooky. These pictures that I am showing first are of a trip that Katie, Ed and Craig went on - then Katie and her dad dump Ed (awwww) and they went out alone. That's ok - cause Katie shows them every time she goes that there is more of Grandma and Papaw in her cause guys - she can catch. Big Ben Ends his trip with a BANG!

OK - you saw Ben a couple of days ago when Ed took him out night fishing. Now you can see him on his own - catching this monster 7 lb. large mouth - all by himself. Actually, Ben had just bought his boat from a friend - Clint is it true that boat had never seen so many big fish. Well I say he was by himself; actually Melissa was his guide and you can see, she showed him the way. Another patient, forgiving pretty girlfriend that endures her man and that awful fishing habit. Not only did they start in the 100 degree heat; but they fished on into the night and you see Melissa finally got in on the action. What a sweetheart she is! Ben and Melissa went home happy - and are trying to book another room @ Kentucky Lake in the near future.

Craig is back on the Tournament Trail!!!

Craig had a busy Saturday and Sunday this week-end. He fished a buddy tournament on Saturday in 100 degree heat with Harold Knight - then Sunday he fished an individual tournament - also in 100 degree temperatures. Needless to say - he was hot (in more ways then one)!

Saturday Craig fished the Christmas for Kids Tournament going out of Kentucky Dam with Harold Knight of Knight & Hale Game Calls. It had 57 boats in it - and "THEY WON" ! They fished on Barkley, fishing main river ledges 6 - 12 foot deep. They threw jigs and crank baits. They weighed in 24 lb. 9 oz. They were culling 4 pounders by 11 AM. Caught 40 keepers total and didn't even feel the heat! Way to go Harold and Craig!

On Sunday he fished the BFL going out of Kentucky Dam. That was an individual tournament and Craig fished with 10 inch worms south of the 68 Bridge with Brandon Owens. Craig weighed in 20 lbs. 13 oz. and tied for 7th. His co-angler, Brandon weighed in 16 lbs. 5 oz. Craig cashed another check "c h a c h i n g". He now is signing autographs @ out place on Thursday evenings - 5 - 6. Way to kick butt Craig - you now have all the Yank kicked out of you. Eddie took Ben and Melissa out for some good ole night fishin on Kentucky Lake - and Ben put it to them. The way I understand it, he handed out a certain amount of grief cause Ed wasn't keepin up. Now come on Ben - you know he let you catch more lol. It is so steaming hot down here and Ben and Melissa have been fishing in 100 degree weather and y'all know how hot it is. Ed took out Steve and Cameron today and boy did Cam show them a few pointers on fishing in 100 degree weather. It was a short trip but Cam was able to show Ed and Steve how to catch the nice fish. If they are lucky, when Cam gets a little older, he'll tell them his secrets. Way to go Cam.

Craig plays chauffour - and Elizabeth plays Reporter!

Thank goodness for our undercover reporter Elizabeth Roberts. Elizabeth (and her unnamed photographer) visited the final weigh in @ Paris, TN. Because all the pros know her, she was able to get pictures with these guys and they were more than willing. The tournament officials did keep a close watch on the photographer (still don't know his name) but here are some great shots. While Elizabeth was getting the 411 on land - Craig was requested (see how impotent he is) by Tommy Sanders and Mark Zona of ESPN Bassmasters to follow KVD and see what his final day went. Haven't talked to Craig since, I think he is still in Paris signing autographs. Oh brother. We all don't need that. Eddie and Jays oldest daughter brought her two daughters down and had a girls week @ the lake. Who would have thought it would be so much fun. We did some bank fishing during the day and night fishing for the grown ups (even though Nikki - turns 15 again everytime she is around fishing and the lake). Kaitlynn is our oldest grandchild and Karaline is our youngest grandchild. PawPaw is putty in their hands. I worked behind the scenes on food and Pawpaw was their lake guide. The weather was so "HOT", but boat rides, sandy beaches and lake swims made everyone have a good time. Also those late night camp fires with plenty of Smores made it all worthwhile. We will miss them - but we look forward to the next trip! See yu on the lake!

Ray Monk from Franklin, OH with a 7 pound bass he caught while fishing with Craig on Barkley Lake on June 9. They had 6 more keeper bass and 15 or 20 that did not measure in their 4 hour trip. They were all caught on ledges with Craigs secret weapon. See you on the lake!

OMG - everyone should know this guy. He not only can fish; but he reads manuals. He reads them from cover to cover. He is our resort genius and I promised him we would put this picture of him on the blog. He caught this small mouth @ night with a wax worm. (just messin Chris) He is getting to be fisher's of men. We all know him as Mr. Entertainment and yes Chris - Mr. Louisville - Mr. Fisherman - you owe me dinner - of course Ed has to go too. This small mouth went 5 - 6 lbs. He was grinnin' from ear to ear. Way to go Chris. Tell your sweet wife that they are getting the pool done - we'll keep you posted.

Triton Bass Tournament

Craig and Tom fished the Triton Tournament that was held at Paris Landing this week-end. Friday was the first day of the tournament and they caught 24 lb. 17 oz. It was a good day. Second day, the were not able to get onto their spot they had on Friday and only caught 11 lb. 13 oz. Out of 406 boats, they finished 24th and won some spending money. Pretty good for a week-end of fun and fishing. Craig will see you on the lake!

Well, you all probably wonder where we have been. Craig had a major camera problem and Ed - he has been rebuilding our flooded camp! Another Day on the Lake

The Richno Family did some fishing on the lake with Craig. They were down for some good ole Kentucky Lake fishing. They got into a load of bluegill and red ear. Darrell Voss Group Hits Kentucky Lake

The Darrell Voss Group visited Kentucky Lake this week and Craig's trip with them was successful as always. They all caught nice fish and the conditions are still not back to normal. They ended up with 60 fish. The high water is not as bad, but it is still over summer pool @ 360.5. There is never a dull moment when fishing with Craig - y'all know that - he will see you on the Lake.

The Big Dogs Go Fishing!

Guys (or gals) you all know that I do the blog - wife of Eddie! Well yesterday the dogs hooked up and went fishing. Now you know that doesn't happen very often cause they are usually busy. They put in @ Barkley and spanked 'em pretty good. I would give a quarter (hehe) to be a fly listening to those two swap fish stories. You know they was telling some big ones. Of course I knew they had to be catching since I got no calls - then Eddie calls to offer to bring dinner home. Take a look @ some of their fish. Harold Knight of Knight & Hale Game Calls

Craig took Harold Knight out on May 13 on Barkley Lake. Water was extremely high and dirty. Water temperature was 68 degrees. It seems that Harold had camera duty that day - but he took some great pictures - we rarely get to see Craig - and we all know how handsome he is! They caught really nice fish. Fish that, as you can see, were in the 5 - 7 lb. range. That kinda day makes it worth going out there! See you on the Lake!

A Craig Hipsher Tale

OK - everyone knows that Craig fishes EVERY chance he gets. Now most of the time he will @ least catch a drum - maybe a catfish. Well according to Craig he says he caught a 6 pounder the other day. Now there were no witnesses and Craig is a good "storyteller". I finally got the truth from a 90 year old blue gill fisherman - that saw what happened on the bank. He took a 3 pound fish filled his livewell with Red Bull - then got it out and wiped it off and it drank a bottle of Mountain Dew! Proof is in the picture. Craig will see you on the Lake! This is a little late in coming - sorry. We have been fighting high water. As you can see Chastity gave Craig a lesson in fishing during the high water. It is always a good thing when Craig is humbled. There are no details on these fish - but if you run into Chastity, I bet she could give you all the details! Nice crappie Chastity! Craig is doing his part to save Kentucky Lake!! Anyone who knows Craig is well aware that when the tough get going - CRAIG GOES FISHING! (Of course he knows I say that with the ultimate respect and reverence. I am his shortest fan lol) The pictures show it all - Harold Knight and Craig caught these in the parking lot @ Moors. OK no more jokes. Don't have the details but I know that the lake level is right at 368 - and it's going higher, but too many predictions. Ed and myself had to move and we saw Craig and Harold - but they didn't see us standing on the roof with our sign - HELP! (Sorry Craig - I crack myself up). As always, they find fish and these pictures show that it has stopped RAINING! I would say Craig's standard signoff - See you on the Lake - however; if you see water RUN!

John and Scott DeGroate from IL. came to Kentucky Lake for a couple of quick trips before they headed home. They got onto some pretty good crappie and had decent weather (although I don't think the wind has quit blowing since April 1! Here they are holding their catch!

He was here for a short vacation and they went out only once - but they caught fish - and you know that is what matters. Craig is finding the Red Ear

Craig took out Billy from the Art Archer Group and they had great luck finding some pretty big Red Ear. Billy is from Peoria, IL and Craig showed him where to find some nice Red Ear on Kentucky Lake. Billy is pictured with a couple of the nicer fish - they were caught on 1/16 oz. jigs in 3-4 foot of water. Water was clear and @ 360.1'. Another successful trip - see you on the Lake!

Eddie was out today and still on crappie. These are two of the nicer crappie and he caught them in 12-16 feet of water - 68 degrees and water was clear. He caught them on chartruese 1/8 jigheads.

Charlie Luber Group Still Doing Well on Kentucky Lake

Craig took out the Charlie Luber Group again and they are still catching the 2 pounders on Kentucky Lake. This is another trip and the big crappie were still biting. These fish were caught in 12 - 14 foot of water on a 1/8 oz. jighead with a lime green twister tail. Water temperature was 68 degrees and clear. Lake level was 358.6. As always, see you on the Lake.

The Charlie Luber Group conquers Kentucky Lake

The Charlie Luber Group seem to be able to catch the "Big Crappie". These pictures show 4 of the 2 pound crappie that the group caught. They caught a total of 30 crappie; 11 of those were over 2 pound. You know that is a seriously good day! Craig took the Group out today and caught on chartruese twister tails in 12 to 15 foot of water. Water level was 358.3, clear and 68.1 degrees. Craig once again shows his customer how it is done!! Fairfield Contractor Group goes Fishing on Kentucky Lake

The Fairfield Contractor Group had a good time fishing Kentucky Lake. Craig and Eddie took the group out in pairs and all had a good time. They caught several nice crappie and some big red ears. The water was clear and 71 degrees and most of the fish was caught in 6 foot of water. Nice bunch of guys! See you on the lake!

Marvin Tomes with 2 lb. Crappie

Craig took Marvin Tomes out on Kentucky Lake and they found the crappie. Of course, Craig has been all over crappie this Spring. The Cordra men conquer crappie!

Eddie took out dad and two sons fishing today. David "brush pile" Cordra from Springboro, OH caught one that was nearly 3 lbs. Ronnie "slow role" Cordra and Dad David both from Louisville caught there fair share and all enjoyed one of God's most beautiful days. Jeff McGill from LaGrange, KY caught 2 crappie that went over 2 lbs. He had a limit of crappie. Most of the fish came out of 8 to 10 foot of water using a 1/8 jig with a 3 inch white twisters. Water was stained and 65 degrees.

Eddie took out Nolan Mueth and Jim Bode for some down home crappie fishing! As you can see by the pictures, Nolan and Jim both had their game face on today. Jim Brown mastered crappie fishing the past two days. The picture on the left is 4/6 and the picture on the right is 4/7. In both pictures he is holding 2 lb. plus crappies and limited out @ 20 both days. He caught them in 12 foot of water on 1/8 oz. jig chartruese twisters in 63.7 degree water that was stained. The Johnson boys from Illinois had a great day on the lake with Craig. They caught seven 2 1b. crappie. That's a nice slab of crappie. They ended up with 33 crappie in all, caught on a 1/8 oz. jig head and chartruese twisters in 12 foot of water. Water temperature was 63.2 degrees and stained. See you on the Lake!

Steve and Bill from Chicago caught some big crappie - the picture below shows four 2 lb. crappie that they caught today. They caught a double limit of crappie - all of them was nice. Family comes to Kentucky Lake

Eddie has family in from Ohio - and these Buckeyes caught some good crappie. Darrell Carroll, Jr. and Jeff Bowlin from good ole Middletown, Ohio caught the britches off of them. Melissa (wife of Jeff) is also down and she is fishing hard so we can get a picture of her. They were fishing in about 10 foot of water - water was stained and skies were blue. Water temperature was 59 degrees. They have a week down here so we will show any progress.

Phil and Dave from Chicago had a good day on Kentucky Lake with Craig. They caught 25 quality crappie and as you can see by the pictures one weighed 2lbs. 14oz.. Eddie had the pleasure of taking out two of Clay County Kentucky's finest. Wes and Brandon was treated to a rain free day, sunny and as windy as it can get. Water temps changed throughout the day from 55 up to 59 late in the day. Most of the crappie was caught late. Lake was a little above summer pool and stained. Buddies Fishing Trip

Well Eddie and Randy got out today. Lake depth was 358' temp was around 56 degrees and the wind was wicked. Skies were sunny and there wasn't any rain - but fighting the wind made it a long day. We caught several crappies but we have been catching some nice yellow bass. Craig also was on the lake and I'll get his report on tomorrow. See you on the Lake!

I've been around fishing for 40 years so when they give me their fish stories, I sort them out and I'll be reporting the end result. Sometimes we might have missed deadlines; that is usually caused by late fishing trips - SO HANG WITH US! We will keep you up on lake conditions.

I fished today with the Kime Brothers. We caught 40 crappie on a twister tail @ a depth of about 6 foot. The water temperature was 53 and just a little stained. It was raining off and on but when you are catching, you don't even notice. See you on the lake!

It was overcast on the lake today. Lake level was 354.9 ' above sea level. Not much change in the temperature. We had a good trip - caught 31 crappie, Jeff and Jerry from Chicago did a good job and hated to see the day end. Oh well tomorrow's another day. See you on the lake!

March 16 - the Crappie are Hitting

Chicago Friends Fishing Kentucky Lake

We went out on the lake on Friday and Saturday with Ed, Damen and Mike from Chicago. Friday we caught bass all day long and 3 or 4 really nice fish. Saturday was crappie day and we had a limit by noon. Ed and Damen took a little longer, but it was a good trip. Water temp was 56 degrees and level is 354.7.
It was overcast and winds from the south southwest @ 15 mph.
